State Route 147 (East Lake Mead Boulevard) Widening Biological Resource Surveys and Permitting Support

BEC Environmental, Inc. (BEC) assisted Horrocks Engineers (Horrocks) in conducting Mojave Desert tortoise and Botanical Surveys to support the design services for pavement preservation and roadway improvement activities along SR 147 and East Lake Mead Boulevard. BEC also coordinated with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Nevada Department of Environmental Protection (NDEP), and the Nevada Division of Natural Heritage to obtain data to assess the potential for presence of Mojave Desert tortoise and rare plant species. BEC surveyed the project area for Mojave Desert tortoise and inventoried and mapped the locations of invasive or noxious weeds, cacti, and yuccas observed within Bureau of Land Management property. BEC summarized the findings and provided Horrocks with survey reports, maps, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping data.
